So again I have failed as a blogger.... but on the plus side I did manage to graduate?!

Of course, yet again, I have failed in my good intentions to regularly update this blog. However these past couple of months have been C-R-A-Z-Y!!! Now comes the epic task of trying to update this page with everything that has happened in the past couple of months. These events may not be ground breaking news however I believe that some are at least worth a mention like, oh I dont know, maybe the fact that I GRADUATED !!!! WITH A FIRST CLASS HONOURS DEGREE!!!!

There is nothing like the relief you feel after getting your results and realising that the £20 grands worth of debt you have accumulated over the past three years wasn't completely wasted ;) . I've got to admit that even though I was reluctant to attend my graduation after having been put of for life after my brothers (it lasted two hours long with the most boring speech on physics an particle theory an we even left halfway through!) it was one of the proudest and most memorable days of my life. Being able to share that with the people that have supported me through thick and thin over the past couple of years was brilliant and I will never forget it as long as I live. For all of those who are planning to go to university in the near future... dont just think about it... DO IT. They were the best three years of my life and I wouldo it all over again in a heartbeat!

I will be attempting to update this blog as much as humanly possible over the next couple of days however my good intentions never seem to go to plan....

"Good friends, good books, and a sleepy conscience: this is the ideal life"

I'm sure that all of you book lovers out there would agree that there is no better way to spend a  rainy day  than getting all nice and cosy with a good book and a very large cup of tea. Indeed, books are often used by many people as a way of escaping the stressful realities of every day life or even as way to learn about new places and experience new things. My love of books was inevitable growing up in the environment I did, and I owe it all to one woman. My mother, who told every story with such passion and enthusiasm that would make anyone believe that the story was not of the authors telling but hers. From a very young age, a newborn in fact, my mother would sit me down and read to me whenever she had a spare minute. Favorite's of ours were "When I was very young" and " Now we are six" by A.A. Milne, both of had to be replaced around 6 times due to the fact they fell apart from overuse. Of course, even though I still hold these books dear to my heart, my tastes have evolved and changed and I am always trying to find new material to read. Books are an escape for me, a way to travel to distant lands, experience unknown cultures and meet fantastical creatures and characters without leaving the comfort and safety of your own little hideaway.

Once a book is finished, I am often left with a feeling of loss. What do I read next? That is always the question that springs to mind. This is where the website Goodreads has been a life saver. True, a part of the excitement of finding a new book is to hunt through bookstores and libraries to find those hidden gems. Trust me I know, I can spend up to 4 hours in a bookshop some trips. However for those of you who just want to quickly find the next book to read without trawling through a mountain of books, it is perfect. Here are some reasons why...

  1. Its completely free to sign up and create a profile
  2. By rating books you have already read, it can find personalised recommendations as to what you might like to read next
  3. You can bookmark the books you want to read next and form a list
  4. You can sort all of your books into different shelves i.e. read, want to read, recommended and can also sort them by Genre
  5. You can also add friends and have discussions on the books you have read and what you thought of them
There are so many other good things that I could say about this website, but I think I will let all of my fellow book lovers find out for themselves.

Have you read any interesting books recently?

When boredom comes knocking... its only natural to start a blog.

Having just finished the last piece of coursework I will ever have to write in my university career, I suddenly find myself at a loss of what to do with my life. True, I should be rejoicing in this moment, thinking "YES, THANK GOD FOR THAT" but surprisingly I feel a bit useless now. So in true Annie fashion I think to myself, what can I start to work on next? To which the answer came " how about a blog?". If you are still reading this and have not already given up and gone on to the next blog, then I feel its only fair to tell you a little about myself and what I have been up to over the past year...
  • I am currently an undergraduate in my final year at the University of Kent in Canterbury. I study Classics and Archaeology which I absolutely adore and am absolutely dreading leaving it all behind me.
  • I have met some absolutely fantastic people this year from both university and from my time in Orlando who I know are going to be friends for life.

  • Discovered a new found love and respect for Gin and tonic. Honestly, I don't know why it has such a bad reputation....
  • I am passionate about travelling. So naturally, take every opportunity to go. I have previously inter- railed around Europe, worked in Universal Studios in Orlando, travelled to Rome with the girls of my uni course etc.

  • I have just been accepted on to a year long program with Disney as a cultural representative in Orlando so am very busy preparing for that.

Me, looking fabulous in my wizards uniform, Kristian and Kate...

    Me and Sarah outside Versaille

My beauties: Laura, Nikki, Lauren and Becky

Callum, Joe, me and Becky at Venue (Student Union)

My favourite place in the whole world: Magic Kingdom in Walt Disney World, Orlando

So, that basically is the last few years of my life in a nutshell. I could bore you with some more details but I'm sure you'll learn more about me as the blog progresses. I'm not usually very good at keeping up with diaries, journals etc. but I will try my hardest to make a real effort with this. So keep exploring, dreaming and discovering and I will try my hardest to too!!
